This guy on twitter is doing some seri
ous
boots on the ground detec
tive work, or at least appears to be.
He thinks Tesla is delivering at about 10% the rate it was last quarter.
I have no idea if he is legit. But he has some interesting video clips and claims in his tweets about excess inven to ry, delivery tempo, and customer tempo at delivery locations.
If it’s all true, you heard it here first!
O f course if it’s just bogus Tesla hate then :
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I’m going for bogus Tesla hate. It’s pretty difficult ( or not worth the effort) to fake tons of cars being loaded onto ships and semi trucks, and fake the people saying they have had their delivery, and fake the social media accounts, and fake the notes from Tesla owners on plugshare, and fake the comments on the Tesla forums, and fake the orders to suppliers.
It's a bit like faking the moon landings. It'd be more work to fake them and keep a few hundred thousand people quiet than it would be to actually do it.

I think the 10% is false, however I still can’t believe how they were only averging 4800 cars q4 wasn’t a headline.

Where do you get that? The numbers that are everywhere are much higher?
Those numbers are reported by Tesla, but I haven’t seen any reputable source question them, and if they were lying they’d be in huge trouble with the SEC, especially given Elon’s recent history. Here’s the Tesla press release: http://ir.tesla.com/news-releases/news-release-details/tesla-q4-2018-vehicle-production-deliveries-also-announcing-2000

Ah, yes that would make much more sense, and comes in about right for the Model 3.

I am totally with you, with one small caveat. It’s clear now that they were in deep trouble with cash flow 8 months or so ago when some of the skeptics were saying they were in deep trouble with cash flow. At the time Elon blew off thos e skeptics as short selling evil doers. Then more recently he fessed up that he was not forthcoming with how bad off they were , there were indeed in deep trouble with cash flow . Non of his loyal employees had said a peep and no SEC follow up is in action fro m what I can see.
But I agree, somehow faking sales and delivering to parking lots would be a much bigger challenge then a few shakes of over confidence in your business model to Wall Street .
I f Tesla does collapse on Elon’s hubris this guys stuff will make great content for the movie that follows.
